Congratulations, BELONGers—you are changing lives all across the United States!
When we first were dreaming about the BELONG Tour and what it could become, we determined that we didn’t want only to be a once-a-year event with no lasting legacy in the community. “It is important,” says BELONG Tour’s Chrissy Shelton, “for us to understand the needs of the cities we are a part of and to engage BELONGers in helping others in their community.” So the Belong Collective was formed as a partnership between the Belong Tour and Legacy Collective—to advocate and raise funds for initiatives in communities where Belong Tour events are held.
Here’s how it works: in each city the BELONG Tour visits, we invite people to come together to invest in an organization that is making incredible, sustainable change in their community. Partners are chosen in a variety of ways, Chrissy says. “Sometimes we call the mayor of a city and ask what the greatest need is and how can we help. Other times we already have a relationship in the city with an organization that we really believe in.”
And it’s working! BELONGers have donated more than $45,000 in the past three months alone. You’ve generously given to combat homelessness, break the generational cycle of poverty, teach underprivileged kids learn to read, help sick children live their dreams, and so much more.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the response of BELONGers across the country,” Chrissy says. “They showed up, opened their hearts, and gave to better their cities.”
Each BELONG Collective partner needs constant financial support and many need volunteers year-round, so it’s not too late to get involved and make a difference. See below for the partners for each BELONG Tour city; visit the BELONG Collective website to learn more.
